Free Will and the Science of the Brain by Michael Gazzaniga.  While I do not fully agree with a number of his premises, he throws a lot of doubt at free will, I found the discussion extremely interesting.  So, who is in charge?  How much do you control your own actions?  Is there a puppet master or are we just random firings across the synapses?  If these questions intrigue you then I recommend you read the book.

Like many citizens, I have become discouraged with the outcome of the political process. I have gone to the polls and voted for change, improvement, hope, enlightenment and respect, but what I have seen is, no matter which political party is in power, their focus is not on ensuring the interests and desires of the citizens are reflected in the laws and policies implemented. Instead, they pass laws and policies protecting the interests of those in power, those who spend the most in the lobbying process, big business and big government. The purpose of the site is not to promote one political party over another, but to promote and encourage everyone to take part in the political process. Only by achieving greater participation by our citizenry in the process can we expect politicians to represent our interests once they are elected. Over the next several weeks I will post several articles, on the site, directed toward bringing attention to the importance of voting and taking an active part in the political process. I hope you will join me. I will be accepting submissions for articles and you are invited to participate in the blog. In 2002 Libya agreed to pay each of the victim families $10 million under the condition sanctions imposed by the UN and the US be lifted and Libya be removed from the list of states sponsoring terrorism.  At that time the US began to increase significantly oil imports from Libya.

In my mind, Libya continues to be a terrorist state.  In the past four weeks they have killed hundreds of their own citizens for no other reason than they wanted to have a voice in their own government.  The US and the UN should re-impose all sanctions against Libya and give the Libyan people the moral support they need to overthrow this tyrant.
